The Future Generation Art Prize 2024 presents works by artists who explore the themes of colonial legacy and historical trauma. In particular, Veronika Hapchenko in her works addresses the legacy of the Soviet period and the understanding of collective trauma.
The focus of the discussion during the lecture by Oksana Dovgopolova: ● Artistic reflections on the colonial past in different countries and in different dimensions.● Why demand the removal of a monument that has stood for decades or even centuries. And as an artistic expression, it reveals the problem and demonstrates that people can see differently, and their right to this vision should be respected.● Is there a single right solution to working on the symbols of the imperial past? ● How do artistic practices create a space for conversation and discussion that allows us to understand and resolve conflicting issues?
