On Wednesday, April 2, at 18:30, Yuriy Bolsa will give a tour of his work I Have Always Wanted to be Here, which is presented at the exhibition of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2025 nominees, and will hold a public reading of texts not included in the exhibition.
The event will take place on the 4th floor in the hall with the installation by Yuriy Bolsa.
Participation is free with prior registration: https://forms.gle/skxa1sv5CwqVJ8FX6
Yuriy Bolsa's installation I Have Always Wanted to be Here creates the illusion of a homely and comfortable space that is surrealistically transformed by the artist's presence. In the center is Bolsa's avatar - a bizarre character in a massive suit on a metal frame. By pressing a special button, one can hear the avatar sharing predictions, compliments or personal stories, as if encouraging a conversation.
As part of the event, the artist will talk in detail about the space he created and read out texts that were not included in the avatar's words. The artist will reveal everything that remained unsaid, share his personal search for “a formula for happiness and a new sustainable balance on the way to the place where he has always wanted to be.” Yuriy Bolsa is an artist nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2025. Bolsa's work, which focuses on personal subjects, is dominated by motifs of loneliness, self-destruction and the study of society through the prism of alienation. The central theme of Bolsa's work is the theme of destruction and change, which leads to the emergence of something new.
