On April 12 at 17:00, the book "Reclaiming History. Decoloniality and Art in Ukraine after 1991" will be presented in the Pavilion of Culture (Pavilion 13, Expocenter of Ukraine, VDNG). The publication is the result of a two-year work of the PinchukArtCentre's Research Platform. The event is part of the Kyiv Art Book Fair (KABF).
The book presentation will be accompanied by a discussion with Yevheniia Butsykina (researcher and author of the texts for the book), Daria Shevtsova, curator of the PinchukArtCentre’s Research Platform, will moderate the event, which will also be available live on UKRAiNA TV.
During the event, the authors and participants will discuss the work of the PinchukArtCentre’s Research Platform and present the structure and content of the publication, including key chapters, thematic focuses, and approaches to the selection of contributors. The discussion will also include Polish researcher and artist Rom Dziadkiewicz, who will share insights into the differences between Ukrainian and Polish experiences in researching decolonial thought.
About the Publication: The book "Reclaiming History. Decoloniality and Art in Ukraine after 1991" focuses on decoloniality in Ukrainian art after 1991. The authors analyse how narratives about Ukrainian art are shaped in a Western context, how the Soviet legacy is reassessed, and how artists engage with themes of identity, history, and memory.

About the Event: The presentation is part of the broader KABF program, a new independent platform that brings together publishers, artists, and researchers from Ukraine, the UK, and Europe. The fair, taking place from April 11 to 13 in the modernist Pavilion of Culture at VDNG, is dedicated to art, culture, and resilience during wartime.
