We invite you to the lecture of Zhenya Molyar "Ukrainian Soviet Cultural Heritage: Loss or Gain" as a part of the public program of the exhibition of Zhanna Kadyrova Flying Trajectories.
Zhenya Molyar is an art historian. Studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. Researches the Cultural Heritage of the Soviet period, in particular monumental art. Supervised the project SOVIET MOSAICS IN UKRAINE. As a member of the self-organized initiative DE NE DE studies and preserves unrecognized and non-obvious cultural heritage in Ukraine. Research associate of the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning, Department of Monument Protection and Urban Cultural Heritage of the Technical University of Berlin.
During the lecture, we will talk about:● a modern attitude to the Cultural Heritage of the Soviet period and a critical sharpening of the always complex and controversial topic;● causes of destruction of objects and irreparable losses of Ukrainian Cultural Heritage;● the artistic tradition that arose during the rule of Soviet government in Ukraine;● the artistic value and historical significance of art that was created by Ukrainian artists on the territory of Ukraine, but in terms of content it had to be and was Soviet;● contemporary art practices that work with a critical understanding of the Ukrainian Soviet Heritage, and are an important and effective way of decommunization and preservation of valuable works of art of the past era.
The event will take place on October 19 at 7:00 pm in the format of direct online inclusion in the exhibition space on the 4th floor of the PinchukArtCentre.
