Myth and myth-consciousness are historically the first types of social consciousness, it is the deepest way of shaping our thinking. And, in fact, this is where human history, human culture, and human existence begin. Looking at the works presented at the exhibition of the nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize 2024, we will try to see how the oldest motifs of mythological consciousness sprout and break through the film of rationality. We will look at how art revives ancient constructions, how it brings archaic feelings to life and connects them with our present. Not only has mythology not disappeared, but it is finding new formats of existence, determining the way we act, make decisions, and relate to the world, to others, and to ourselves.
Nataliia Kryvda is a Doctor of Philosophy, Professor at the Department of Ukrainian Philosophy and Culture at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Academic Director of MBA programs at Edinburgh Business School (UK) in Ukraine. Head of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
