On Friday, December 20, at 18:30, we invite you to attend a lecture by Ivan Moysiyenko “Nature is a silent victim of war” as part of the public program for the exhibition of the nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize 2024.
The event will take place on the 4th floor of the PinchukArtCentre in the exhibition space (space with the work of Veronika Hapchenko). Participation is free with prior registration: https://forms.gle/jFLTw2dqf31XwxrM9
The nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize 2024 address the themes of the Anthropocene, wars, its environmental consequences and the rights of non-human actors in their works. For example, Dana Kavelina's video work reveals the relationship between people and the environment during war, where the environment appears both as a territory in need of protection and as a shelter that provides shelter and support. And the artist Giulia Cenci reflects on the consequences of wars, which include both bodily harm and the destruction of landscapes and various forms of life.
During Ivan Moysiyenko's lecture, we will discuss:● How do human wars become wars against nature?● The impact of war on the terrestrial natural complexes of protected areas on the example of the Kamianska Sich National Nature Park; ● The Kakhovka tragedy – the impact on nature and subsequent events at the former bottom of the reservoir.
