We invite you to the discussion "Museification of modern art during the war" as a part of the public program for the exhibition of the Research Platform of the PinchukArtСentre “Oleksandr Roitburd. Power Theory”.

Oleksandr Roitburd had a special influence on the development of modern art in Ukraine and fought for its institutionalization. During the discussion, we will try to follow the developments in this direction and talk about the modern challenges associated with working with collections during the war.
During the discussion, we will consider the following questions:● formation of collections of modern art: main challenges and solutions;● alternative ways of replenishing collections;● when there are only walls: how not to lose the audience and continue to communicate Ukrainian art without sacrificing the safety of works.
Participants of the discussion:● Oksana Barshynova is an art critic, curator, and Deputy General Director of the National Art Museum of Ukraine (NAMU) for exhibition work.● Olga Zhuk - Deputy General Director of Mystetskyi Arsenal for Contemporary Art. She was the creative director of the Dovzhenko Centre, headed the Department of Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and participated in the preparation of the creation of the Ukrainian Institute.● Semen Kantor is the founder and Director of the Museum of Odesa Modern Art (MSMO). From 2008 – commissioner of the Odessa Biennial of Contemporary Art. Co-author and editor of many MSMO publications.● Oleksandra Kovalchuk is the Deputy Director of development at the Odesa National Fine Arts Museum, co-founder of the NGO Museum for Change, which helps cultural institutions secure their collections during the war.● Iryna Polikarchuk – Director and curator of the public program of the Artsvit Gallery / Dnipro; co-founder of the Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture; co-curator and manager of the Ukrainian part of the research project Secondary Archive (founded by Fundacja Katarzyny Kozyry / Warsaw).
The conversation will be moderated by Ksenia Malykh – curator, art critic, Head of the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentre.
