Announcement of exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre for 2025

Dear visitors, we are pleased to share with you the announcement of exhibitions that you can visit at the PinchukArtCentre in 2025!
● PinchukArtCentre Prize 2025At the end of February, the PinchukArtCentre will present an exhibition of 20 shortlisted artists for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2025, a nationwide prize in contemporary art for young Ukrainian artists aged 35 or younger. The participants will create new works or showcase their recent projects, weaving together personal stories, collective memory, and reflections on identity. The exhibition captures the dual realities of Ukrainian society's experience: tragedy and loss intertwined with resilience and hope for the future. This year, a special recognition outside the competition will honour the memory of Veronika Kozhushko — an artist from Kharkiv who applied for the PinchukArtCentre Prize but tragically died on August 30 as a result of a Russian missile strike on the city's civilian infrastructure.
● Gabrielle Goliath Personal Accounts ExhibitionPersonal Accounts is the first Ukrainian solo exhibition by South African artist Gabrielle Goliath. In a new chapter of her ongoing project Personal accounts, she delves into experiences of patriarchal violence and paths toward healing. The Ukrainian chapter of the project, created specifically for the exhibition, will feature personal stories of women, queer, trans, and non-binary individuals, empowering them not only through sharing moments of trauma but also practices of survival, solidarity, and love. In the video installation, the artist removes all spoken words, bringing to the forefront sounds of breaths, sighs, and hums – echoes that occurred between the narratives shared by the participants during personal interviews.
● Open Group ExhibitionThe exhibition delves into the theme of memory, weaving together individual narratives that, through three distinct works, form interconnected stories of collective memory – fundamental to shaping the identity of specific social groups. With war serving as the unifying theme, explored through both autobiographical and historical lenses, the exhibition focuses on the Ukrainian nation and its transformations.
● Lesia Khomenko’s personal Exhibition Lesia Khomenko's exhibition explores the evolving image of the individual and society, shaped by the politics of art and the turbulence of complex historical processes. It highlights the potential of painting as a medium, which in Khomenko's work is deeply intertwined with socio-political dynamics. By deconstructing the methods of painting – especially in the Soviet context – the artist unlocks its political potential. Developing her own artistic optics, Khomenko offers a distinctive view of humanity and society, placing them at the centre of her art.
● Presentation of the anthology and exhibition of the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentreFor the last two years, the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentre has been working on decolonial studies and applying this approach to the analysis of contemporary Ukrainian art, mostly since Ukraine's independence. The researchers undermined the Western representation and perception of art from Ukraine, and on the other hand, they considered how we see, identify ourselves, and reclaim our own local histories.
Apart from the exhibition, the PinchukArtCentre presents the book “Reclaiming History. Decolonialism and Art in Ukraine after 1991”. The book includes texts by the curator of the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentre Kateryna Botanova, researchers Yevhenia Butsykina and Milena Khomchenko, as well as scholars Svitlana Bedareva, Adrian Ivakhov and Madina Tlostanova.
In 2025, the PinchukArtCentre will also host a series of exhibitions from the PAC UA programme. PAC UA is a program aimed at commissioning new works by Ukrainian artists by investing in creation and providing curatorial and institutional support.
Open Call for Emerging Curators is a program aimed to discover and support new voices in curatorial practice by providing an opportunity to create an exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre. The initiative encourages innovative approaches that challenge traditional ways of exhibition-making and introduce new ideas that often lack representation in institutional settings.
