Lecture "A Tool for the Search for Truth: irony in Modern Ukrainian Art" by Yevheniia Butsykina

We invite you to the lecture of Yevheniia Butsykina "A Tool for the Search for Truth: irony in Modern Ukrainian Art" as a part of the public program of the exhibition of Zhanna Kadyrova Flying Trajectories.
Yevheniia Butsykina is a cultural researcher, an art critic, a teacher at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and a participant in the Research Platform of the PinchukArtCentre.

At Yevheniia Butsykina’s lecture:
● We will try to understand the concept of irony, its history, and modern phenomenology.● We will distinguish and analyze the meaning and methods of application of postmodern irony (pastiche, parody, and carnivalization) and post-irony.● We will consider bright works of Ukrainian visual art from the 90s to the present day, in which artists are ironic, searching for truth or proclaiming its absence.
The event will take place on October 12 at 7:00 pm in the format of direct online inclusion in the exhibition space on the 4th floor of the PinchukArtCentre.
