VOSTOK LIVE, a musical conversation between musicians of the Donbas

PinchukArtCentre will present under its musical programme VOSTOK LIVE, a musical conversation between musicians of the Donbas, that will be held as video streams featuring VOSTOK label musicians. The events will be held every Wednesday during one month, from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. on the PinchukArtCentre’s Facebook-page. The online concert series will feature brief interviews with the musicians.
The following artists will take part in the programme: Elija, Sasha Shumm & CONORLEE, Burning Woman, port1001001, monodont, Vitalka Project + limlimsen, Symonenko and 7991H.The musical series will include 4 episodes, each comprising two part. In part one, musicians who have resettled from Eastern Ukraine will play their sets in the PinchukArtCentre’s empty space. Part two will feature performances by musicians based in the Donbas. The sets will be streamed from their homes, squats and places in Luhansk and Donetsk that are important to them.

The project VOSTOK LIVE will be held in support of VOSTOK 2 compilation, to be presented online on November the 11th, 2020.
Project curators: Anton Lapov, artist and musician, one of the founders of the Luhansk Contemporary Diaspora, and Kateryna Yakovlenko, curator of public programmes at the PinchukArtCentre.

VOSTOK is an independent music label and digital platform representing the Donbas electronic scene. The label was established in 2019 following a successful cognominal series of parties. Its first release – compilation VOSTOK – was on the APRIZE 2019 long-list of albums of the year. Luhansk Contemporary Diaspora is an informal creative collective established in 2015 by artists who resettled from Luhansk, working with the theme of the armed conflict, its social and cultural background and implications. At present, in addition to the resettled artists, the collective includes members residing in Luhansk.
